LEARNING AND WORKSHOPS
Getting Started – Non-member visitors to the Guild can attend a Sit and Knit with some yarn and needles and get some help getting started with some basic techniques or get some knitting tips. If you enjoy it, you can decide to join and get more member benefits.
Sit and Knit Demonstrations – Members attending the monthly Sit and Knit gatherings at Ross House can attend a demonstration and learn a new technique. These demonstrations are delivered by experienced Guild member knitters and have covered techniques such as knitting in the round, cast ons and cast offs, knitting with beads, intarsia, entrelac, Tunisian crochet, and one row buttonholes. Suggestions for techniques you would like to learn are welcome, just tell a committee member at a Sit and Knit. You can see what demonstrations are scheduled by visiting the events page.
Workshops – The Handknitters Guild offered its first Summer School at Ross House in January 2017 with classes covering, lace techniques, finishing, colour work, socks, and mastering mistakes. The workshops were a great success and more ‘Schools’ are in the planning. Check the blog front and events pages for information about the Summer Schools.
