Kate Just hope   Kate Just detail

If you missed the exhibition by artist Kate Just at Daine Singer gallery late last year you have another chance to view her knitted banners in a group show at the Kings Artist Run gallery. The exhibition has been curated by Alison Lasek and is called Amber Stones and Green, it “brings together four individual artistic practices that link to women’s histories and mythologies; that embody a sense of community and hyper-connectivity.” The exhibition is on until 31 January 2015 and Kings is at level 1, 171 King Street, Melbourne and is open from Wed-Sat, 12-6pm.

Kate Just’s work involved community members in the making of these banners and in the development of their meaning with street marches and photographs. If you like to see knitting being used creatively you might enjoy visiting her work. Some of our Guild members participated in the knitting of sections of the banners. There is always something new to do when it comes to knitting.
