Woolly Weekend in Daylesford

Due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to postpone our April Woolly Weekend in Daylesford.  The weekend will be booked for later in the year.  Details will be posted when they become available.

We are again having our Mini Beanie and Tea Cosy competition in the run up to the Alice Springs Beanie Festival. Any type of beanie, tea cosy or coffee pot cover can be entered into competition. The judging will take place at the May ‘Sit and Knit’ meeting. The winners will receive a $20 Clegs gift voucher. Last years competition was a great success and all items entered went on to the Alice Springs Beanie Festival.  The beanies and tea cosies will be on display at our Wool and Craft Fair on 31 May 2008.

Our March ‘Sit and Knit’ meeting is on this Sunday 2 March 2008, between 2 and 5 p.m.  Daniel from Artisan Books (www.artisan.com.au) will be at this meeting along with a fabulous selection of books to purchase. The colour for February is orange, so please bring along your finished items.

The Wool and Craft Fair will be held between 10.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. on Saturday 31 May at the Brunswick Town Hall, Sydney Road Brunswick.

To celebrate the change of season, start of the Melbourne Food Festival, the release of their newest kit and generally all things woolly, ak traditions a textile design store in Hawksburn, (Prahran) in Melbourne are holding a knitted food and drink competition. All contributions are welcome and people can sell their wares if they wish.  ak_windowposter.pdf  The prize is worth in excess of $130.00 and great fun to make.

Orange

After a very successful yellow January, the colour to knit for February is orange. Please bring your completed (semi-completed) items to our next ‘Sit and Knit’ meeting on 2 March 2008.

At the February ‘Sit and Knit’ meeting our members showed their knitted/crocheted yellow items/whimsies …

A duck, assorted beanies, two orphan pouches, baby jumper, baby bootees, a flower, table doily with swans, baby blankets, an Anglicare square and many more.
