Archive for March, 2008

Last Saturday, members of the Handknitters Guild were invited for afternoon tea by the lovely ladies at Beautiful Silks.  It was a great afternoon (refreshments included asparagus rolls, orange cake and German Pfeffernuss biscuits) with the chance to view and purchase lovely silk fabrics and hand dyed silk yarns and wools.  Beautiful Silks offer a variety of workshops throughout the year, so check out their website for further information – www.beautifulsilks.com.

Prudence Mapstone has decided to use scrumbles, medallions and free form bits to start off a ‘pink’ fundraiser for breast cancer research. Prudence will use these to create a range of things like handbags, scarves, cushions etc, which will eventually be auctioned off (later this year) to raise money for cancer research.Your contribution of a ‘pink’ scrumble or two will help make this project a great success, with all the funds raised going to a good cause.  Whether you are an experienced freeformer or if you have never freeformed before, it will be a good excuse for you to have a go. ‘Scrumble’ pieces can be made using knitting or crochet or a combination of both crafts together, or you might even like to incorporate other crafts like felting, beading, embroidery etc as well.  Scrumbled pieces should be completed by the middle of the year. Please send your ‘pink’ scrumbled pieces to Prudence Mapstone, P O Box 5242, Daisy Hill, QLD 4127.For further information on freeform scrumbling refer to Prudence’s website: www.knotjustknitting.com
