The Guild’s market supports yarn dyers and producers from around Victoria that mostly do not have shops or produce limited batches of yarns and colour ways. This is a golden opportunity to get up close to some yarn, talk to the makers and go home with something special.

Our stall holders this year are: Can Do Books, Cat & Sparrow, Changeling Yarns, Coloured Jules, Coral Stuart, Dairing, Dyed By Hands Yarns, Fibre Yarn Craft, Great Ocean Road Mill, Green Tea Yarns, Half Baked, Handweavers and Spinners Guild, Heathermaid, Ixchel Angora Fibres & yarn, Kaye Adolphson Designs, Madam Tricot, Metafour Studio, Miss Click Clack, My Spin on Things, Not Another Hat, Push My Buttons, Raxor Yarns & Fibres, Robyn Betts Alpaca yarn, Shiloh Wool, Spin Addict, Swish Yarns, Yarn Barn, and Guild member stalls with project bags, accessories and knitted items.

This year’s Yarn and Craft Market is going to be bigger than ever with about 38 stalls of knitting related joy. Last year some stalls were so busy you had to make like it was a mosh pit and dive right in. We have mentioned most of the stall holders in the previous post but here are some more:

Cathryn will be back with Push My Buttons, Robyn, the Alpaca Yarn Lady will be there, Juliet will have a stall for Craft Circle, Donna will be there with Fibre Craft Yarn, Vivienne will be back with Fibres of the Yarra Valley, Can Do Books will have a great selection of knitting books, Dairing yarns will be back with their great collection of special yarns, Tarndie yarns will be joining us this year, Jennifer with Little Yellow Cat will be there, and Danielle with her lovely Half Baked Yarns. Gotland yarns are new this year and will be be selling Gotland rovings, fleece and yarn. Gotland is a variety of sheep known for its good nature and its soft and curly fleece.

On her Facebook Little Yellow Cat said, “I’m building up my Fairy Bread sock yarn stocks so it doesn’t sell out before lunchtime like it did last year.” That’s good to know, I like the look of that colourway. Although, Little Yellow Cats’, Blue Beetle and VoVO are also great names for those of us who like the nomenclature as much as the yarn.

If you are on Ravelry we have put the market up as an event and there is a discussion thread on the Guild’s Group page. It’s going to be a great market, so tell your friends and support these great yarn makers.

The Guild Committee have been busy inviting stallholders for this years market, organising our own retired books stall and completing this years raffle blanket. The market will happen on Sunday 21 May at the Coburg Town Hall, from 10am to 3pm. Entry is free. Many of our regular stallholders are coming back and some new ones have come onboard to keep it interesting. We are still supporting Victorian yarn makers and dyers that mostly do not have shops, online or in the world. This makes the Yarn and Craft Market a unique opportunity to meet the makers, see and feel their yarns and products, stock up your stash, and support the Guild.

Yarn batts

Yes we sure are. The Guild has had a great response from yarn and craft makers wanting to have a stall at our Yarn and Craft Market coming up on Sunday 29 May at the Coburg Town Hall, from 10am-3pm. This means that there will be plenty off lovely yarn and supplies from independent makers from Victoria for you to get excited about.

Charly from Ixchel Angora Fibres and Yarns will be back this year with her beautiful soft yarns. Like many of the stall holders at our market, Charly does not have a bricks and mortar shop so this is a great opportunity to feel how soft her yarns are and to see the rainbow of colours with your own eyes. Cat and Sparrow will be returning this year with their yarns and fibre roving (pictured) for spinning. Dairing Yarns will also be back with a stall showcasing their unusual fibres, visit their website to see what I mean.

We are very excited to welcome Kelly of Miss Click Clack to the market this year with her hand dyed sock and DK yarns with great names after places in Melbourne such as the Merri Creek sock base in the DangerWillRobinson colour way. Ursula of Little Dipper yarns is returning to the market this year with her lovely hand dyed yarn, as is Julie of Dyed By Hand Yarns. Julie will have some one off OOAK skeins that were colour experiments, that she may not repeat, along with her regular array of great hand painted yarns. Lara Downs will be back with their range of mohair and merino yarns. Janet of Nanny’s Spin on Things  is returning with her art yarns.

If you are as excited as we are about this year’s market you can download this flyer and tell everyone.
